Charleston Girls Weekend

About a month ago, Mom, Emily, Bethany & I had a girls' weekend in Charleston! It was our first time doing something like that and we had a great time! (Don't worry, Javier had fun with my dad and Mark in Chapin - eating lots of greasy food & going skeet shooting.)

Here's an attempt at a summary of our weekend:

Friday morning we got up bright & early and drove to Summerville to People, Places & Quilts. It's a really unique fabric store & we had a great time browsing (and taking pictures).

After a yummy lunch at Chick-fil-a, we spent a couple hours shopping at the outlets. A bit exhausted after all this shopping, we checked in to our hotel right in downtown Charleston - The Indigo Inn.

One of Mom's favorite parts of the hotel was the parking lot - no worrying about where to park in downtown Charleston is a huge bonus! We were walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go, which was so fun. And, we had great weather! Even though it was the first weekend in February, we got a little warm at times. We spent some time with our feet up in the hotel (Emily smocking furiously on Lydda Grace's Easter dress) then headed out for dinner at Jestine's Kitchen. I took the camera but didn't get any pictures. A big bonus of going to Charleston in February is no lines! Jestine's is famous for its lines, but we were seated right away. It's also famous for it's fried chicken and real mashed potatoes. My fried fish was good but if I ever go back I'll definitely try the fried chicken. After a little more walking & shopping, we called it a night.

Saturday we enjoyed the hotel breakfast then headed out to the Nathaniel Russell house.

The Nathaniel Russell house is a house museum from the early 1800s. The staircase inside is amazing, but unfortunately they don't allow cameras. Wikipedia has a few pictures here. The grounds were also really pretty and we got a few good pictures of us there.

We wandered the streets, trying to snap pictures of letters. I thought this was a fun "S".

Next up, lunch at Eli's Table. Mom found this through restaurant.com, and it was great. Just a note - if you ever go there, don't get the crab cakes as a meal. (Ask Emily if you'd like details.)

We wandered through the market, then headed back to the hotel for some more downtime. Bethany & I got a smocking lesson from Mom - yes, we had quite the wild weekend.

We were all pretty stuffed from lunch and had been talking about ice cream or yogurt all weekend, so dinner that night was a piece of pizza from Andolini's (it was really good local pizza) and yogurt at a yogurt bar. This was my first experience with a yogurt  bar - so good! (That's why Javier and I ended up at the Frosty Parrot the following weekend.)

Sunday we said goodbye to The Indigo Inn, headed to the battery for a few windy minutes of picture-taking, then hit the road. It was such a fun weekend and we all hope to make this happen again!
