Everyday happenings

We've settled into a pretty good routine recently. Thought I'd share, and I know I'll enjoy looking back to see what our life was like with a 4.5 month old.

Javier has his busiest semester yet, so he spends his days & most nights doing school work. He's had to work a lot on the weekends, too, but still enjoys breaks to spend time with me & Isaac. Javier is loving being a dad and tries to make the most of the time that he's home & Isaac's awake. (Which isn't a whole lot these days.) Sometimes I'll ask Javier to change Isaac's diaper, and find him 15 minutes later still changing the diaper - because he'll play with him so much while changing him. :)
Clean happy baby!
Isaac is at such a fun age! Lots of coos, squeals, bubble blowing and smiles. And, in case you can't read his shirt, he's planning a future as a paper airplane pilot. About 2 or so weeks ago, he dropped a nap and now takes 3 naps most days. His morning nap is usually the best. Naps are still a little challenging most days, but he very consistently goes to bed around 7pm and sleeps until 6-7am. (He still wakes for 2-3 feedings in there!) He still spends most of his awake time on his stomach, but also enjoys sitting in his Bumbo & just recently has really enjoyed using an exersaucer from a friend. (Pictures to come.) He focuses very intently on whatever he's playing with, and has started to get frustrated when a toy is out of his reach. He also has started to enjoy reading, loves music, and usually likes walks with Mama & Gracie. He still loves being held & cuddled but is also quite a squirmbug. We love this sweet, happy little boy!

I have the privilege of hanging out with Isaac all day, every day and find it funny to think back to how different life was 5 months ago. I try to keep up with how quickly Isaac's changing - just when I get used to one routine, something changes - like a dropped nap, or teething starts. I've enjoyed having a flexible schedule and spending lots of time at home. I just started BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) this year and am really encouraged by that. Isaac & I are starting to venture out more - I'm becoming much more comfortable taking him on errands, especially now that he stays awake longer & doesn't have to miss a nap to go out. Usually in my free time, you can find me sewing, which I've really been enjoying lately (more to come on that later).

Overall we're loving life as a family of 3! (4 counting Gracie!) We're spending a lot more time at home than we did before Isaac, but are finding that we really like that. I know I keep saying this, but we can't believe that Isaac's almost 5 months old!

Late afternoon naps are hard for Isaac, but he loves sleeping in the Moby.
Sweet sleeping baby
Starting to teethe! Isaac's been drooling a lot for the past month, and in the last week has really showed signs that his gums hurt. He loved gnawing on this cold washcloth.

4 month checkup

Isaac's 4 month checkup was this morning. He's a healthy boy weighing in at 16 lbs, 10 oz and measuring 27.25 inches long. And, since no post is complete without pictures...

Early one morning - the light was shining in on Isaac.

He loves his feet, especially when we're changing his diaper.
