Cousins

I had really been looking forward to our time with family in Chapin. One of the really fun things about our time there was that Isaac got to meet his cousins. Lydda Grace absolutely adored Isaac - it was so precious to see! She loved holding him, giving him kisses, and getting him to smile. LG will be such a sweet mama some day - anytime Isaac would cry, she'd come running to find me and say "Aunt BekBek! Isaac's crying! He NEEDS you!" Too cute.

I think Wade will enjoy Isaac more when he can run around and play ball. Wade did like playing with Isaac some when he was on the floor - mostly by bringing Isaac lots of toys. :)

LG was never very far from Isaac when he was awake.

Mom got Isaac and Wade matching PJ's - so cute, but Isaac wasn't too happy for the photo shoot!

And speaking of cousins - Bethany and Mark did a super-fun reveal while we were all there to find out the gender of Baby Boerckel. Isaac's newest cousin is GIRL, coming in November! (Can you tell from the picture how shocked Bethany was?) For all the juicy details, check out their new blog!

China-bound

As my last post mentioned, there has been a lot going on lately. Topping the list is Emily & Jon's impending move to China. We spent last week at my parent's house in Chapin in order to get in lots of family time before they left. It was such a great week, but SO hard to say goodbye!! Em, Jon, Lydda Grace and Wade flew out to Colorado this morning for a week of training before they head to China, where Jon will be teaching English in Harbin. You can keep up with the Wylies here if you'd like.

What a lack of posts may mean

There are three main reasons I fail to post on this blog:
1. There's nothing "blog-worthy" happening.
2. I just plain forget.
3. I'm so caught up in everything that's happening, I don't make time to blog.

Reasons 2 & 3 are usually the most likely culprits. And, while I sometimes blame my lack of posts on reason #1, I'd like this blog to reflect what's happening, even the mundane, un-blog-worthy things.

My current lack of posting is due to reason #3 - lots going on. Thus, be prepared for a lot of catch-up posts soon!

Duck Pond Picnic

At the end of June, Isaac went on his first picnic. He went to the Duck Pond with his friend Levi. Of course, Rebekah and I also didn't mind hanging out with Levi's parents, Daniel and Emily.

He really had more fun than he was letting on.

With mama.

Emily, Daniel, and Levi.

With daddy.

Levi chasing ducks, Daniel chasing Levi.

Sweet boy.

Other happenings...

While our time has clearly become dominated by one (adorable) little guy, there's still been plenty of other things going on in the Schloemann household.

We were so blessed to participate in our friends TC & Kelly's wedding in the middle of June. It had the most amazing setting for any wedding I've ever been to.

First dance

Rehearsal - look at the setting!

Amazing chandelier in the barn where the reception was held.

You could pet the animals at the reception!

We've also been gearing up for the launch of Providence Presbyterian Church on August 12. Our current church, Grace Covenant Presbyterian, is planting a church in Christiansburg which we'll be a part of. This is a very bittersweet time for Grace Covenant as we all look forward to seeing the Lord work in Christiansburg, but know we'll miss our Grace Covenant family.

There have been several events to help promote fellowship among those who will be joining Providence Pres. June's event was an ice cream social at the Waters. We love this crowd of people and are excited to be a part of this new church with them!

End of June

It's hard to believe June is over - Isaac's first full month was a busy one! In no particular order...

BeBe came up for a visit - we had so much fun!

First time in the laundry basket! One of my favorite places to play as a kid. :)

Look how curly my hair is after my bath!

We've started getting zucchini from our garden.
Forgetting to check it one day means zucchini as big as Isaac the next day.

We love borrowing Wade's clothes! These monster jammies are a favorite.

Big Smiles!

We saw Isaac's first smiles Father's Day weekend. He smiles with his whole face - I just love how his eyes light up! These are two of my favorite smile pictures.
