Banner Change

By popular demand, the editors of this blog have decided to retire the previous banner in order to update the blog header with a new banner featuring the newest addition to our family, Isaac.

The retired blog header features Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, more commonly known as Virginia Tech. We had just recently moved to the Blacksburg (Virginia) area as Javier began his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering. Rebekah was just beginning a new chapter in her life as a full-time engineer with General Electric in Salem.

Meeting Family, Part Two

Javier's parents came to meet Isaac when he was a little past two weeks old. We had lots of time to visit in between Isaac's many meals and were able to take several walks around the neighborhood. They even took Isaac (and us) out to his first meal in a restaurant! Thanks for visiting.

Cloth diapers

Ever since I've seen Emily use cloth diapers, we knew we would use them for our babies. However, with so much to learn as first-time parents, we held off on using them for a few weeks. (Not to mention that cloth diapers don't seem to fit too well on itty bitty babies!) Wednesday marked our first full day of cloth diapering, and it went pretty well! 

One thing's for sure - cloth diapers sure do have the cuteness factor going for them!

Four weeks old!

Even though we knew time would fly by once Isaac arrived, we've still been pretty blown away by how fast the days seem to go! Tuesday marked Isaac's four week birthday.

Four weeks! Enjoying his first bottle - he did great with it!

Also four weeks (June 12) - the first bath that Isaac seemed to enjoy. (He didn't scream the whole time!)

Moe's

Ten days ago on June 4 we had our first outing as a family of three. (Not counting the pediatrician!) I had a birthday coupon for Moe's, so Isaac and I picked Javier up from his office and went out for lunch. After lunch we stopped by Rita's for an Italian ice, then walked around campus a bit. Isaac was a champ and slept pretty much the whole time!

So Javier must tell me at least 5 times a day... "I just love this little guy!" I love hearing him say that and love watching him with Isaac. It's so fun to see him as a dad and I'm looking forward to seeing their relationship develop.

Isaac & Hobbes

Carla made Isaac a really special gift before he was born - a crocheted Hobbes! I am so impressed by her talent and love this sweet gift. I'm sure Isaac will have many years of playing with his friend Hobbes.

I'm planning to take pictures every so often of Isaac & Hobbes to give a fun reference point for how Isaac's growing.

This first picture was taken when Isaac was 5 days old. (May 20)

This second picture was taken when Isaac was 20 days old. (June 4) And, it was a complete coincidence that he was wearing the same outfit both days - I didn't realize it until I just went to upload these pictures! Guess I like his "Mommy's Big Guy" shirt!
